Is it really possible to live celibacy today?
First of all, it is important to understand what celibacy means. The dictionary defines it as abstinence, non-marriage or singleness. Although these are true, celibacy chosen as a response to God's call is much more than renunciation of marriage and family life. This kind of celibacy is the soul's "yes!" to a spousal union with God which begins on earth and is fulfilled in eternity. It symbolizes the ultimate and mysterious love of Christ for His Church, who "gave himself up for her . . . that she might be holy and without blemish." (cf. Eph. 5:25-27) It is "for the sake of the kingdom of heaven" (Mt. 19:22) and must be esteemed an exceptional gift of grace. It uniquely frees the heart of man, (cf. 1 Cor. 7:32-35) so that he becomes more fervent in love for God and for all men. (cf. Perfectae Caritatis, #12)

(Eph. 6:18) Prayer in this meaning is to live in a spirit of prayer so that everything that we do, whether it be works or words, is offered to God.
